Invest Lagos is a flagship investment engagement platform operated by the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Lagos State Government. We connect investors with opportunities across key sectors of the Lagos economy and facilitate engagement between investors, policymakers, and business leaders.

When you register for our events and programs, we act as the data controller for your personal information.

Information We Collect

When you register for Invest Lagos events and programs, we may collect:

• Full name (as shown on your international passport)
• Country of residence
• Organisation / company name
• Position / job title
• Email address
• Phone number (including country code)
• Sector(s) of interest
• Attendance preference (physical or virtual)
• Visa assistance requirements (if applicable)

We do not collect special category data (such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, or health information) unless voluntarily provided and necessary for specific services such as visa assistance.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal information based on the following legal grounds:

Event Registration

Our processing of your registration details is necessary for the performance of a contract (to facilitate your participation in our events) and for our legitimate interest in operating the Invest Lagos platform and promoting investment in Lagos State.

Marketing Communications

Where you have given explicit consent, we may send you marketing communications about Invest Lagos events, programs, and initiatives. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us at the address below.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Process and manage your event registration
• Communicate with you about event details and logistics
• Provide visa assistance where requested

Third-Party Processors

We use trusted third-party services to store and process your data:

• Airtable — Used to securely store registration records. Airtable processes data on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements.
• Email Service — We use an email delivery service to send confirmation emails and, where consented, marketing communications.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your registration data for two (2) years following the event date. After this period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymised, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Marketing consent records are retained for as long as you remain subscribed plus a period of two (2) years after unsubscribe, to ensure we honour your withdrawal of consent.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of Nigeria, including in the United States where our third-party service providers operate. Where such transfers occur, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place through standard contractual clauses or equivalent data protection measures.
